Mi Receta

Mi Frida es Donald Trump

For this project was studied Frida Kalos life including the struggles she went through that led her to her eventual fame and success. After that, we created a Frida inspired painting. We were instructed to pick a celebrity and a Frida painting to replicate. After we created the art, we wrote about it in Spanish comparing it to the Frida painting and describing how the two are connected and what representations we made between our painting and the Frida painting.

Estados Unidos. Porquees presidente, él sabe muchos

hombres importantes. Él tiene dos hombres favoritos

quese llaman Pence y Putin.

Project reflection

Why do you think Frida Kahlo painted so many autobiographical paintings of herself?

To me, Frida Kahlo didn't have many outlets that she could turn to, in order to release             her emotions. I believe that her paintings, especially the ones depicting her, were the               only way she felt she could express her story and what she was going through.

How do you feel that your image came out?

I think that I mentioned this in a way putting the way that I felt about my person into             my painting. I believe that the final product came out very nice. I was able to work on it           over the weekend and put my best product on display.

Did you end up with the image you thought you were going to?

I did end up with the Frida painting that I wanted since I knew what aspects I wanted to         put into my painting I looked for Frida paintings that I could use for layout and still                   display all of the elements that related to Trump. Although I did change some of my                 original concepts (painting Pence and Putin sitting on trumps shoulders), I was still able         to get all the main topics that I wanted to be conveyed onto a canvas.

What do you think of Frida and her art now that you know more about her?

I think that her art is very melancholy it holds a sorrowful and inspirational story of love         and loss and the painting style is obviously very good, but the emotion that she was               able to capture in her work was the rare aspect to her art. Every picture conveys some             feeling that Frida was experiencing and I think that's very powerful.

El nuevo Houdini

For this project, we read a book titled El nuevo Houdini. This book was about a boy who used his father's car without permission while his parents were on vacation. He got into many different predicaments thought the book and had to find solutions. in the end, he believes that he gets away with it. and then his dad gets a ticket in the mail of his sone in the car with a girl driving. once we were finished reading the book we were each assigned chapter and had to make a short movie about what happened in that chapter in Spanish.
